There has been a serious shortage of French Immersion teachers over the past few years. They have in fact become a rare commodity. The country is already experiencing a teacher shortage, and there are even fewer French Immersion teachers. However, in four years, the number of students enrolled in French Immersion has jumped by 20%.
As a result, the number of French Immersion positions available in schools across the country has also jumped by 20%. That’s a lot. Statistics Canada goes so far as to say that these numbers will increase for a few more years, while the numbers in regular (first-language) education are stable or declining. The number of bilingual Canadian youth is on the rise. Families are widely and willingly choosing programs in which their children can speak at least two languages, often three, sometimes more.
Teaching in a French Immersion program puts you behind the wheel of one of the most effective ways to learn a second language. Do you have what it takes to be a driver of the bilingualism of tomorrow?
If so, you’re a rare commodity and we need you. Right here, right now. Write to us at info@teacher5etoiles.ca
