Teacher 5 étoiles Campaign
Teacher 5 étoiles is an original project developed by the Association canadienne des professionnels de l’immersion (ACPI) in the wake of its Canada-wide consultation, the results of which were published in 2018 and underscored a critical shortage of qualified French Immersion teachers across Canada, due in part to the sharp increase in the number of students enrolled in French Immersion programs.
Teacher 5 étoiles is an innovative project that addresses the challenges of recruiting and retaining French Immersion teachers across the country. The ACPI-led Teacher 5 étoiles project receives financial support from Canadian Heritage as part of the Government of Canada’s Action Plan for Official Languages 2018-2023.
Teacher 5 étoiles is being rolled out in three main phases:
- A national campaign to enhance and promote a career in French Immersion;
- A national recruitment campaign;
- A recruitment portal for school boards and applicants.
Each phase comprises a host of activities aimed at achieving outcomes to: increase the number of qualified teachers in French Immersion programs; help school boards continue to meet the growing demand for Immersion programs; contribute to the development of bilingualism for a greater number of Canadians and; foster pride in belonging to the French Immersion teaching community.
